Cucumber Basil Spritz

lean, crisp, and cool—this Cucumber Basil Spritz is built for sunshine and slow sips. Fresh cucumber, bright lime, and a hint of basil sweetness make this one a crowd favorite.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Basil Syrup:

  • ½ cup fresh basil leaves (packed)
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar or agave

For the Drink:

  • 1 English cucumber, peeled and sliced
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1½ cups cold water
  • 1½ cups plain seltzer or sparkling water
  • Crushed ice
  • Basil leaves or cucumber slices, for garnish

Instructions

Make the Basil Syrup:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine water and sugar. Heat until sugar dissolves.
  2. Remove from heat, add basil leaves, and steep for 10–15 minutes.
  3. Strain out the basil and cool completely.

Blend the Cucumber Base:

  1. In a blender, combine cucumber slices, lime juice, and cold water. Blend until smooth.
  2. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.

Mix the Spritz:

  1. Stir in the cooled basil syrup. Taste and adjust with extra lime or water if needed.
  2. Chill before serving.

Serve:

  1. Fill glasses with crushed ice.
  2. Pour cucumber-basil mixture ¾ of the way up the glass.
  3. Top with sparkling water and garnish with fresh basil or cucumber ribbons.
