Sparkling Blackberry Lemonade
Bold color, bright flavor, and balanced just right—this Sparkling Blackberry Lemonade brings a vibrant finish to your spring table.
Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
For the Blackberry Syrup:
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
- ½ cup sugar or honey
- ½ cup water
For the Lemonade:
- ¾ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 5–6 lemons)
- 2½ cups cold water
- 1½ cups plain seltzer or sparkling water
To Serve:
- Ice
- Lemon wheels or fresh blackberries for garnish
- Fresh mint or basil (optional)
Instructions
Make the Blackberry Syrup:
- In a small saucepan, combine blackberries, sugar (or honey), and water.
- Simmer over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, gently mashing the berries.
- Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve and cool completely.
Mix the Lemonade:
- In a pitcher, combine lemon juice, cold water, and cooled blackberry syrup.
- Stir well and adjust sweetness if needed.
Add the Sparkle:
- Just before serving, stir in seltzer or sparkling water.
Serve:
- Pour over ice and garnish with lemon wheels, blackberries, and fresh herbs if desired.
